FIRST SESSION

People come to therapy (also known as counselling) for many different reasons. Most frequently, people seek therapy because they want help with a mental health problem or to learn how to better cope with situations. Another common reason people seek therapy is to increase self-knowledge and explore broader existential topics.

During the first session, we'll discuss why you sought therapy and your goals. I'll ask you questions about your life to get a better understanding of your circumstances and the aspects of your past that have impacted you. We'll discuss how I believe I can help you. Where I believe you would be better served by another specialist or service, I'll endeavour to send you resources and provide you with a referral.

If you would prefer to speak to me informally before arranging a first session, I offer a 20 minute meeting free of charge where you can ask any questions you may have.

Issues I work with include: depression, self-esteem issues, anger management, generalised anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, worry and rumination, OCD, ADHD, procrastination, weight loss, relationship/family difficulties, sleep problems, LGBT issues, self-awareness/personality exploration, grief and bereavement, faith and spirituality
